Covenant's Research Continuum

At Covenant, the librarian, Jennifer Ferguson, collaborates with teachers to integrate research skills into their classroom assignments!
In middle school, students are introduced to the basics of our library: how to use the computer catalog, find a book, check out a book, etc. Sixth-graders learn about properly citing a picture/image while researching for their bird projects. In the fall, seventh-graders working on their science fair projects get a solid foundation in using the project folder and various other research features of NoodleTools, an online research tool. In the spring, they apply their research skills in a cross-disciplinary project that spans their world literature and world geography classes! Students spend several sessions in the library to hear book-talks, learn about databases, website evaluation, citing sources, and creating proper and useful note cards that support their research. In high school, there are a variety of projects throughout the year in various classes that build and improve these research skills. Seniors use the library as a stepping-off point for gathering resources pertinent to their Senior Thesis topics. Our librarian is available for large group, small group, and individual instruction.

In addition to research, our library offers a vast array of books for students in Grades 6-12 to read. We also have several thought-provoking exhibits that change monthly! If you get a chance, pop into Covenant’s library and see what's happening.
