2025-2026 Middle School History Teacher (Grade 8)

The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to teach eighth grade History starting in the 2025-26 school year. Our school, which serves over 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning, rooted in the Western Liberal Arts tradition, and focused on the formation of the whole person—mind, body, and soul. Our faculty leads with an incarnational approach that seeks to equip and inspire students to live well through service to God and others.

Position Overview:
The eighth grade History Teacher will teach a Western Civilization course focused on the Paleolithic period through the Middle Ages. The ideal candidate will possess a mature, Christian faith and a strong background in and commitment to the Christian liberal arts tradition. They must enjoy working with middle school-aged students, demonstrate the ability to inspire students’ love of learning and critical thinking, show enthusiasm for professional growth and academic excellence, and an eagerness to share their Christian faith authentically in the context of their teaching.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in History or a related field
  • Proven experience teaching middle school students
  • Strong ability to integrate their Christian faith authentically in the context of their teaching
