Change is not always an easy thing, especially for students transitioning to Middle School. Between managing a rigorous schedule, school sports, extra-curricular activities, and being the new kids on campus - it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.
A new Mentorship program was implemented by Kali Gaston, Director of Student Activities, and Nikki Shrader, Upper School Director, at the beginning of this school year to help connect our more experienced students with their younger schoolmates.
More than 60 students in Grades 10 -12 volunteered to become a mentor – and each of Covenant’s sixth-graders was assigned a mentor from the same House. At their first meeting, mentors played games, brought gifts, and spent time just getting to know their mentees.
This program has become a bright spot in our school community - creating meaningful relationships and allowing our older students to share their wealth of knowledge, experience, and character with our youngest Eagles on the Hickory Campus.
